A 0.2 percent tax on stock trades, and slightly lower taxes on bond and derivatives trades, would raise $120 billion in revenue per year according to Center for Economic Policy Research.
The $18 Billion could be used to pay for all community college students’ tuitions, leaving $102 billion for infrastructure, early childhood development, expanding healthcare, paid parental leave.
Just didn’t make into the Trump/Republican plan. We’ll wait and see what the Democrats do, but the Democratic establishment didn’t/hasn’t supported such a tax either.
