Reduce pharmaceutical costs to consumers by:
- Allowing customers to purchase pharmaceuticals from other countries (80% of the ingredients are manufactured abroad),
- Providing for the government to negotiate the price of Medicare cover drugs,
- “Fast tracking” approval of cheaper generic drugs,
- Providing public R&D for development of new drugs,
- Banning pharmaceuticals that only modify existing medicines without improving clinical benefits,
- Adjusting pricing according to effectiveness.
B-Partisan efforts oppose any solution. Both Democrats and Republicans refuse to pass legislation to reduce consumers’ pharmaceutical costs.
