Why Do People Support Medicare-for-All, A “Government-Run” Health Care Plan

Can a “government-run program” operate for less than “private industry”?

A “government-run program” operates with civil service wages, no profit motive, the single motive to provide health care to citizens who require it.

A private for-profit insurance corporation expends huge amounts of money on actuaries to identify and create “risk pools” (to avoid having to spend dollars on health care for their premium payers); expends huge amounts of money on CEO and top executive salaries and “bonuses”; expends huge amounts of money on lobbyists in DC to get the legislation favorable to the corporation; expends huge amounts of money marketing its policies (football sky boxes, cable TV ads, etc) and selling its policies; expends huge amounts of money negotiating small (they call them “cost effective”) “networks” of “service providers” that are difficult to understand and work within; expends huge amounts of money defining what health conditions and treatment options will be excluded from their coverage; expends huge amounts of money creating ways to make policy holders pay more (e.g. co-pays, deductibles, exclusions, maximums,  etc.).

The private for-profit insurance “market” is larded with costs that have nothing what ever to do with providing health care to people who need it. And we all are forced to pay…..

…until we are all eligible for Medicare, which operates without profit and at a 4% overhead not a 20% overhead.

Vote for candidates who support Medicare-for-All. It improves coverage, saves money, extends insurance to all Americans, eliminates deductibles and co-pays and does away with “networks” that effectively limit health care services.
